Doberman Rescue Minnesota operates as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization based in the Twin Cities.  We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Dobermans in need, and to educating the public about the Doberman breed.  Most of our available dogs come from animal shelters or are surrendered to us by their owners.

Although we've rehomed Dobermans of all ages, the majority of our dogs are from one to 5 years old. Some of the dogs that have come through our organization have been a little younger or older than that, but we almost never have very young puppies available.

All Dobermans in our program are carefully examined by a veterinarian, spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested (and given monthly heartworm preventative throughout the heartworm season), and are permanently identified with an AVID microchip.  We also treat any existing medical conditions. While awaiting adoption, most of our Dobermans live in foster homes located in or near the Twin City area where we evaluate their temperaments, work on basic manners and obedience, and give them lots of TLC.

Our goal is to place each our dogs into a home best suited for that individual dog.  Some factors we take into account include the dog's reaction to children, other dogs, and cats, as well as the potential adopter's lifestyle and activity level.  We carefully screen all applicants by checking references and home interviews. We want to ensure that each adoption is a good match and provides a permanent home for the dog.  We maintain contact with our adoptive families and encourage them to contact us in case of any questions or problems.
